Millers go to championship again.
The Millers had another terrific season ending with the championship game for the second straight year. These 7th graders continue to improve under Coach Calvin.



Miles 48 yard punt return for a touchdown with 6:06 in fourth quarter leads the Millers to their second straight Kidsbowl championship.

2001 Kidsport AA Football Champions

The Millers once again won the 7-AA Kidsbowl championship with a 12-6 victory over Marist. It was a hard fought battle with neither team giving an inch. Springfield took the early 6-0 lead on a sustained drive with good runs from Miles, Gregory, and Justin. Miles punched it over from the one for the first touchdown. On defense TJ, Spencer, Justin, and Kyle made some excellent tackles to stop a couple of Marist drives. Marist tied the game at 6-6 on a long drive at the end of the first half.

It was a great way for the Millers to start their playoff game against Elmira. Miles Haley takes the opening kickoff 75 yards to the endzone. Justin Lindsley added the extra point to make it 7-0, Springfield on top early. On Elmira's opening possession, they went down and scored a touchdown on the Millers, due to a 15 yard penalty on fourth down which kept the Elmira drive alive. They added the 2 point conversion for the 8-7 lead. But on the Millers opening drive, running back Haley and quarterback Barley led the Millers their second score of the game, and the Barley extra point gave the Millers the lead again...[More]
